Steady – Prototype

A camera stabilization concept

Frustrated with shaky and inaccurate video from my sports camera, I wondered if I could create a system to maintain stable camera orientation.

This prototype proved that this could be a viable method for future camera stabilization systems.

Functional Prototype

You can see that the movement is a little shaky in the prototype. A little more tuning of the PID control loop, and possibly better servo motors would likely solve the jitter. However, the concept can be proven with the prototype.

System Theory

An Inertial Measurement Unit feeds spatial data into a PID (Proportional Integral Derivative) control algorithm to determine the appropriate position of each motor.
